![]() ![]() Run Guild Wars 2 and a new tab should appear in uMod called “gw2” at the log-in launcher. exe (C:\Program Files(x86)\Guild Wars 2), then select “Use Global Hook”. Run uMod and click on Main -> Add Game -> and select your GW2. ![]() Now we are getting to the gritty part of extracting the player texture. Now all you have to do is export the PNG as a DDS and just accept the default settings. Next you will need to drop the DDS.exe for GIMP in it’s plug-in directory (Typically located here C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins) and re-run GIMP. There is one other, GW2Browser ( GitHub Link) but that’s only if you like to see the texture components.įirst install GIMP and then run it at least once to make sure it working correct. Next you are going to need the Universal Modding Engine (uMod) ( Download) I was able to run fine with uMod2.0 r53 on a Windows 7(圆4). Next you will need a way to convert Portable Network Graphic (PNG’s) to Direct Draw Surface (DDS’s) in which if you’re using Photoshop you can use NVIDIA’s Photoshop plug-in( Download) or GIMP’s DDS Plug-In here( Download). This guide will be using GIMP but it should be easy to transition over to Photoshop. First you will need a graphical editing program such as Adobe Photoshop or GIMP( Download). There are a few things you will need in order to edit the textures for Guild Wars 2. A simple tip to keep in mind when re-skinning or textering unfamiliar models, paint a section a bright solid color or add dots to the edges or vertices of the texture area to find where it relates to the model. Just like an orange or banana peel you have created a coherent texture. Unfold the cube and note where each edges letter is, this is how most textures are laded out. If done right all toy should have a total of twelve letters, each paired up. A good example of showing this is to make a second cube and label each edge with a matching letter. Typically in the 3D world you will produce a 3D shape then make cuts along the edges and vertices to flatten the image in a layout that makes sense. What you just did was apply a "Texture" or "skin" to the cube, though not very intuitively. Notice that the drawings warp around the cube, at some parts the drawings look out of place once they reach an edge. Once you draw a few designs fold the cube up and look at each of the faces. Before you assemble the cube draw some designs on the paper while it's flatten. The area that makes up the space inside the square is called a "Face" or also known as "polygon". Looking at your cut-out you will see lines that make up six squares in a cross shape pattern (some designs very), each line is called an "Edge", the intersection of each line or point is called "Vertices". Print and cut out the design, once done you are ready to learn how things work in 3D space. Follow the instructions here: Paper Cube. The best way to understand 3D space and modeling is making a cube from a flat piece of paper. I hope that this document would help people do more modeling and texture work for the future and maybe have a way to crowd source new submissions and fixes (looking at you clipping on Charr). Chapter three is where some example textures are given and how to mod the textures to get the desired look. Chapter two is the process of getting started, such as downloads and programs. Chapter one is concepts of 3D modeling, such as textures, normal maps, models and image displays. ![]() I have broken down the process into three chapters for ease of use and understanding. This might make the game nearly unplayable while the program is running. Because of the nature of the program that is used to mod the textures you might experience an extreme loss of frames per second.
